The Federal Ministry of Health Nigeria released a report on Monday that the doctor who treated the late Patrick Sawyer, who was confirmed of having the Ebola virus, and three others have also shown signs of what looks like the Ebola Virus Disease (EVD). A total of eight persons have now been quarantined, up from the two announced last Tuesday.
In order to contain the disease, and provide appropriate information and prompt reporting and response to the public, the Federal Ministry of Health has made public an Ebola website, www.ebolaalert.org; a twitter account, @ebolaalert; and emergency toll free numbers, 0800326524357 and 0800 EBOLA HELP.
Meanwhile, a few days ago, the Lagos State Commissioner for Information, Mr. Lateef Ibirogba advised residents of Lagos to be wary of the activities of fraudsters who are making claims about their ability to provide cure for the Ebola Virus. He also urged them to always contact health providers to report unusual feelings noticed as only medical solutions are known to be appropriate for the disease. He reminded residents of the State to make use of the emergency phone numbers- 08023169485, 08033086660, 08033065303, 08055281442 and 08055329229 provided to contact health authorities in case anyone with observed symptoms of the Ebola disease is noticed.
